About
Alonzo Waheed
Alonzo Waheed is a CBT-certified practitioner, speaker, and coach working at the intersection of mental health, spiritual wellness, and personal development.
For fifteen years he has built and delivered programming in the rooms most people describe from a distance: turnaround schools on the South and West Sides, men's groups, reentry programs, and the civic spaces where decisions about those communities get made.
The work has reached more than thirty Chicago Public Schools, informed executive orders in Springfield, and filled sanctuaries on MLK Day. It started, though, with his own restoration, and he has never presented it as anything else.

What He Believes
Four things the work rests on
Restoration comes before balance
You cannot balance something that has not been put back together. The order matters, and skipping the first part is why most attempts at the second one fail.
Resilience is taught, not issued
Treating resilience as a personality trait lets institutions off the hook and leaves individuals believing they were born without it. It is a skill set, and it can be taught to anyone.
Say the thing plainly
Mental health conversations fail when the language gets careful. The work here names depression, direction, and failure directly, because people can only address what has been named.
Live it publicly
The daily documentation is not content for its own sake. It is showing what living balanced actually looks like, so that someone can find themselves in it.
